Description
This is my winning design for the Pearl Essence jewellery design competition held in Dubai with the theme "The rich pearling heritage of Arabia". It was manufactured by Mahallati Jewellerers in Dubai.
It is a bangle of 18ct black rhodium-plated gold, with 24 light purple fresh water cultured pearls ranging from 4mm to 11mm.
Inspired by the oceans where pearls were first discovered to become part of Arabia's rich heritage, the flowing organic lines and open-work are reminiscent of the weird and wonderful flora and fauna of the ocean. The piece is a tribute to the natural process and environment from which pearls are born.
